Filler Injection

Restylane is revolutionary new dermal filler used to eliminate wrinkles, add fullness to thin lips, and decrease nasolabial folds. Restylane is the first dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid, a natural material already found in the human body. This material increases the skin’s volume and fullness without the risk of allergic reactions associated with other fillers. For example, Botox is actually a drug that works by blocking nerve transmission to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. While there is no pre-testing necessary prior to Restylane injections, there are a few precautions that should be taken. The following should be avoided prior to treatment: aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of Vitamin E. Also, patients who have had facial cold sores may be at risk for a recurrence after a Restylane injection. Restylane usually lasts 6 to 9 months and may be repeated as necessary.
